These are some results of various attempts to take pictures of the solar eclipse on 11 Aug 1999.
My own attempt: We had bad luck with the clouds,
thus missed the very best part of it.

In Turkey 2006, I had much better luck with the view.
Not the best spot…
…but at least partially fascinating!
The moon is eating up the sun…
…and is spilling it out again.
Maximal darkness, amplified by the cloud cover …
…which apparently ended somewhere east of us.
The smart (and more professional) approach was to go to Lake Balaton.
